How important is Game 6 between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night?
It potentially could give us the team that is going to win the NBA Finals.
If Brooklyn wins, it will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, while Milwaukee is trying to force a winner-take-all Game 7.
The winner of the Nets-Bucks series seems to be Vegas’ pick to win the title, as the Eastern Conference is a -150 favorite to the Western Conference (+104) to have the NBA champion on WynnBET.
While that certainly could include the Atlanta Hawks or Philadelphia 76ers, WynnBET has the Nets (+145) as the NBA title favorite and the Bucks are in fourth at +800 odds. Philly (+1100) and Atlanta (+1600) have the longest odds to win the title, which indicates that the Bucks-Nets winner is the favorite to make it out of the East and presumably win it all.
Brooklyn looked like the clear choice to win the East after it dominated the Bucks in the first two games of the series, but injuries to Kyrie Irving and James Harden have cast some serious doubt on the Nets’ chances to make the NBA Finals.
An all-world performance from Kevin Durant in Game 5 helped the Nets regain control, but there is no guarantee that they will win Game 6 as WynnBET has them as a 5.5-point underdog.
While the Phoenix Suns have already made it to the Western Conference Finals, the West’s remaining teams all have some serious issues at hand.
The Utah Jazz are down 3-2 to the Los Angeles Clippers and both Mike Conley and Donovan Mitchell are dealing with injuries. As for Los Angeles, superstar Kawhi Leonard is out indefinitely with a knee injury and that severely limits the Clippers’ upside as a championship contender.
Phoenix has the second-best odds to win the title at +300, but it is dealing with roster uncertainty as well after point guard Chris Paul tested positive for COVID-19.
Vegas clearly views all of those issues as bigger than the Nets’ injury concerns, but if the Bucks are able to knock them off, don’t be surprised if they become the odds-on favorite to win it all.
